City Of Ilagan Water District
CIWD replacement of distribution lines
The City of Ilagan Water District (CIWD) is replacing its old distribution mainline pipes from Brgy. Osmeña to Centro Poblacion. This project aims to solve water quality problems, consistent supply pressure and reduction of water losses.
As the City of Ilagan has grown in leaps and bounds, CIWD has deemed it necessary to condemn and replace the CIWD's antiquated system with bigger and newer pipes. This will mean a better quality of water, with a safe, sustainable and reliable supply of potable water.
FILTRATION SYSTEM
Filtration is a biological process in water treatment in which undesirable elements are removed, resulting to a safe and potable water that conforms with the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).
The City Of Ilagan Water District (CIWD) is currently working on the system design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of filtration equipment.
This project has been conceptualized to upgrade the quality of water supply focusing on the reduction of iron and manganese, color, odor and turbidity.
Potassium monopersulfate in powder form, soluble in water an oxidizing agent as well as disinfectant that produces an active oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl free radicals and hypochlorous acid which eliminate bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoas, where the raw water pumped out from the source is mix with potassium monopersulfate aqueous solution that create a mass of precipitates, called "flocs" along the in-line static mixer and filtered to the Modular Sand Media Filter (MSMF). Backflushing is automatically activated with clear water as it reaches the differential pressure mode. The oxidation and the chlorination process occurs spontaneously.
With its mission of providing safe and potable water the CIWD filtration equipment is installed in Bagumbayan Pumping Station.
